Your writing curriculum sucks the joy out of writing

You've been teaching long enough to know that the scripted curriculum in your textbook is creating disengaged, reluctant writers who ask "How many sentences?" every time you mention writing a paragraph.
You know there has to be a better way. You just need permission to try something completely different.

After 23 years in upper elementary, I know what you're facing

After 23 years in the classroom teaching everything from first through eighth grade, I used to absolutely dread grammar instruction too. As a published romance author and Teacher Consultant with the National Writing Project, I knew good writing when I saw it. But getting my students there? That was the challenge.

What makes my approach different? I create hands-on, interactive resources that engage all five senses. Instead of worksheets, your students will be physically building sentences, moving around the room, and hearing sound effects while they learn. It’s play-based learning that feels like game time but delivers serious results.

My test scores have gone up at least 20% year after year for 15 years using these methods. When you get kids excited about the process, the learning naturally follows.

I’m a 5th grade teacher, published romance author, and Teacher Consultant with the National Writing Project since 2012. I have a master’s degree in holistic education. That’s where all my creative approaches that actually get results come from. I deliver PD sessions that are completely hands-on and interactive. I talk really fast and throw a bazillion ideas at you because that’s just how I roll.

I volunteer for combo classes because I love the creative freedom they give me. When nobody knows what you’re doing, they stay out of your classroom and let you innovate. That’s where the magic happens.
